As I reported in a recent Blog the UK is passing a bill to allow law enforcement to monitor UK citizens in their use of nearly every type of electronic media.
Fortunately, Canada has backed away from a proposed law that would have allowed a similar monitoring of the use of the Internet by its citizens.
It's a shame the great citizens of the UK haven't made the outcry their Canadian cousins did. Otherwise they may have avoided one of the greatest breaches of trust in modern times. I know it is fashionable after 911 to argue anything is ok in the fight to battle terrorism, but now it seems the same argument is used in battling crime.
The ends do not always justify the means.
