I do not know if you understand how the NSW number plate recognition system works; the Police receive details of all unregistered motor vehicles. As vehicles approach the spot check their number plates are read by the computer and run against the list. If the vehicle is listed as unregistered it is pulled over about 100 metres down the road.
.
Then a series of checks are down, including driver licence, outstanding warrants, stolen vehicles etc. It appears the sort of person who drives an unregistered vehicle is the same sort that would have outstanding warrants against them or be silly enough to drive whilst unlicensed or drive a stolen vehicle. The number of other matters that are cleared up through the process is amazing.
.
The important thing is only vehicles that are unregistered get pulled over, so innocent parties do not get intercepted. So be thankful you live in Australia and not Canada
